The DNS system consists of servers known as nameservers. These components store information about domain records and information. Each of this DNS servers or nameservers have a particular function. Here are the three basic DNS servers and their tasks:

Zone Master Server

When trying to reach a website hosted in a particular area, the first place for the domain search is on the Zone Master Server. This nameserver consists information of domain records and DNS for a particular region. It is the first point of contact when searching for information from a given region. Also, due to its role, it is an authoritative server. Its database carries information for all websites in the said region.

Also, all computers from the region route to it. For example, you can find a zone server for a particular continent say, Africa, America, Europe, Asia, or Australia. When seeking information from a website in the United States, the first point of routing will be on the zone master server for the American region. The component of this server is primary master servers and secondary slave servers.

Root server

It is the basic component in the DNS system. When you log on to a domains name, you kick off the IP address translation process. This server receives your request and sends it to the TLDs servers. The role is known as DNS namespace resolving or else searching the name on the DNS system. It is the first step in enhancing your online communications.

Apart from this, the root server has a role of publishing your website files on the internet. When you upload your content files on the website, it is the role of this server to ensure your target audience can access them. Hence, Root server is the first stage of your internet communications or computer networking.

Caching-only name server

The caching-only nameserver or DNS server is another crucial component of this system. As you can guess, the primary function of this nameserver is caching. It is the server that stores information of every query result taking place on your website. When you look up for the same information in future, you will not wait forever. The storage eliminates future DNS lookups which are the reason for delayed result processing. Thus the caching-only name server helps your computer to be fast which is an important Google ranking factor. Speed also increases traffic and sales because the users of your website can get the information they require fast and they are likely to not only come back but also recommend others.
